Year R Transition (September 2020 start)

Dear Parent/Carer

On behalf of everyone at Harrison Primary School I would like to personally welcome you and your child to our school community. We are delighted to hear that you have applied to join Year R in September 2020.

Due to the current circumstances related to COVID-19 our admissions arrangements have had to be changed. Traditionally we would have hoped to have met you face-to-face over the coming weeks in order to start the process and our normal transition programme during the Summer term may have to be adapted, given the fact that schools are closed to the majority of children at this time.

Please be assured that we will make contact with you and your child very soon in order to start to get to know you and to familiarise yourself with our school. We will also be in contact with pre-schools in the coming weeks once parents have accepted their children's places.

In the meantime we would like to ask parents who made online applications to log back onto the Hampshire Education Portal to either 'Accept' or 'Reject' the offered school place before midnight on 1st May 2020.   It is a one-time only process and this facility will not be accessible from 02 May.

Parents who made paper applications are also required to return the reply slip in their letter or email their response by this date.

I am sure that you will want to get organised with the first items of paperwork that we will need to see before your child starts school. You will need to provide us with confirmation of your child’s date of birth (normally birth certificate or passport) and confirmation of the address used in your application by providing any two of the following:

a recent household bill showing both your name and the property address e.g. gas, electricity, water, council tax
a bank statement, credit card statement, store card statement showing both your name and the property address
in the case of a house move, a solicitor’s letter confirming exchange or a signed rental agreement.

We will be in touch soon regarding arrangements for sharing this paperwork with us as school is currently closed.
Please do not attempt to visit the school without being invited to do so. Currently, it is unknown when schools will re- open and it is important that everyone complies with the social distancing requirements to reduce the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Please be assured that we will be offering a comprehensive transition programme in order to ensure that your child has a great start to learning at Harrison and your children will get to 'meet' their class teachers, albeit in a different way to normal.

We are very much looking forward to your child joining us.

Regards
