Walk To School Week/Walktober
There are two healthy school initiatives that take place in October, led by Miranda Scott, our Healthy School's Lead.
Next week is 'Walk to School Week', 4th-8th October. We would like to encourage all children to walk, scoot or ride to school, or part of the way if you can, every day next week.
Teachers will collect this information and record it in a class survey which contributes to our overall investment in developing healthy habits. Obviously, we appreciate that there will some families who cannot participate on a daily basis.
Next week the children will watch a short presentation about how to stay safe when they are out and about, which includes information on the Green Cross Code and developing their understanding of the benefits of this form of exercise.
This is also part of our 'Walktober' initiative. Please see the attachments on the Harrison Headlines email for families to use at home - we will not be logging this information but there are a lot of fun activities that you can take part in with your children - on the way to school, at weekends or during half term.
There are also competitions that can be entered offering a range of prizes. The information attached will provide you with extra links, resources and ideas for you to take part as a family.
