We have been so pleased to welcome the children back to school over, unbelievably, only six days! The children have settled so well as they know 'the way' we do things around here'.
For us the start of the new term has obviously meant a return to the fundamentals of school; the re-establishment of familiar routines and expectations, the welcoming and settling of new families, and ensuring that are children are happy and settled, ready to learn. You will be pleased to hear that some of our new Year R children started today.
Everyone's health and physical wellbeing are equally important - our lunchtimes and outdoor times are better than ever! We welcome back two Active8Minds sports coaches and two new lunchtime play leaders, Mrs Clarke & Mrs Hulland.
The DfE guidance related to the on-going pandemic basically tells us to maintain our hygiene and protective measures and endeavour to get school life back to as near normal as we can. We continue with our daily 'fogging' to protect our community. We have been pleased to get the children together for assemblies and let the children play across their year groups at break and lunch.
Please be aware that COVID is still very much in our school community. Five members of our staff have had the virus over the summer holiday; nine children did not return to school because of it and three members of our team are still very poorly. Therefore, we continue to take a pragmatic approach to the pandemic and are re-introducing other activities gradually. We are looking forward to seeing parents at the meet the teacher sessions after school for years 2&5 next week and have been glad to see parents and children this week already.
I'll keep in touch and in the meantime, hope that you all have safe weekends.
